Ryan Tubridy tells of hilarious encounter with good humoured garda at Covid checkpoint

RTE star Ryan Tubridy shared a hilarious anecdote after he was stopped by the gardai at a Covid checkpoint on his way to work.

Speaking on the RTE Radio One show he revealed how he came across a "good-humoured" garda this morning.

Gardai are operating several checkpoints across the country as Ireland remains in lockdown.

Each day countless people are stopped at the checkpoints where gardai check if the person is making an essential journey, the Irish Mirror reports.

Obviously not expecting to see the Late Late Show host the garda said: "This would be a great story if I turned you back".

Tubridy was then quick to crack a joke telling his listeners: "I said a lot of people would like it if you turned me back.

"I told him he'll probably see me again at midnight as well!

"They're working hard those guys and gals around the country but they do have good humour I find. And they're good craic. It's not an easy post but good on them."

Tubs is set to host a star studded line up of guests on the Late Late Show tonight in what he has promised will be a 'fun' show.

Among those joining Tubridy this week will be rockstar Dave Grohl, Irish boyband legend Ronan Keating and RTE Home School Hub's latest star PE teacher Emer O'Neill.
