Ryan Tubridy shares his love for RTE show Home of the Year which he has 'been watching for years'

Ryan Tubridy is the latest person to share his love for the hit RTE series Home of the Year following its triumphant return to screens this week.

The show returned to RTE last night for the first episode of the latest season which saw three stunning homes go on display.

Host Hugh Wallace is joined by two new judges this year who inspected the first three charming and quirky Irish homes of the season last night.

In total 21 houses will feature in this season but only one can be crowned with the top spot.

Fans were overjoyed with the new series debut including Ryan Tubridy who let his love for the show be known as he admitted he's been watching it for years.

Speaking on his RTE Radio 1 programme Tubs said: "I tell you what I did watch last night Home of the Year. Love home of the Year. I've been watching it for years and they've two new judges on it and they did great last night, they were brilliant.

"Of course Hugh Wallace is terrific, he's central to the programme really. But the houses were lovely.

"We love having a snoop around the houses and some of them were big, some were small but it doesn't matter about the size of the house it's about the design as Hugh says.

"It's a great auld show if you haven't watched it, it's well worth looking at. Nice escapism too which is what we all need."

Viewers were given a look at three stunning homes which featured on last night's episode - with many already recognising one from social media.

Fans of the show had already spotted David O’Brien’s all-black barn styled house in the trailer for this season last week and instantly recognised it from social media.

And they were given a full inside look las night as David showed off the impressive self-build which boasted the unique look of steel cladding and a corrugated outing all dark black.

O'Brien has already amassed a huge following on social media where he offers a glimpse inside his modern home.

He built the bungalow in Cork in 2017 and moved in a year later.

Speaking ahead of the show Carl told his some 16,000 followers: "Nervous but very excited about welcoming you all into my home this evening.

Ho me of the Year returns to RTE One next Tuesday at 8:30pm.
