Ryan Tubridy reveals Late Late Toy Show will air on November 29 this year

Ryan Tubridy has revealed this year's Late Late Toy Show will air on Friday, November 29.

The hugely popular TV extravaganza pulls in RTE's largest TV audience every year and preparations are already well underway.

At yesterday's autumn launch in RTE, Tubs revealed the show would be making its return on the last Friday of November.

He told The Irish Sun:"If we left it any later, you're getting to the 6th and 7th of December, and actually we got a call from the North Pole and Santa said 'I don't have time to get all those toys made because kids watch your show and they write to me, so it was a time issue.

"And when Santa comes knocking, we answer the call."

The theme of this year’s Late Late Toy Show was revealed to be The Greatest Showman. Host Ryan Tubridy and the cast of hundreds have prepared for the most magical night of the Irish television. Pictured with Ryan are some of the cast Tatto Man Dylan Allen (5) from Navan, 3-Legged Man Kayla McMahon (10) from Balrothery, Napoleon Luke O'Connor (7) from Dublin, Fatman Mathew Little (12) from Dublin, Albino Ella Maher (10) from Carlow, Pierrot clown enya Allen (5) from Navan, Bearded Lady, Alannah Willoughby (12) from Carlow and Wolf Man Colm O’Sullivan 98) from Navan (Andres Poveda)

And he revealed that this year's theme and his character have been chosen but he couldn't drop too many hints.

Ryan said: "We generally come up with the theme for the Toy Show in the green room after the show ends and I'll go up to some of the guys saying 'I've an idea for the Toy Show' and they're going 'leave us alone'.

"I think we could do something with this and then we come up with an idea.

"So we had a meeting last week where we confirmed the details, confirmed the character I'm going to be."

Ryan added that this year's theme was in part inspired by legendary broadcaster and former Late Late presenter Gay Byrne.

He said: "I met somebody over the summer and they told me a really nice story about their dad being on the Late Late Show with Gay Byrne some years ago.

"And it had to do with her father, who's a good vintage now, and computer games, which I don't like but we show them on the show anyway and something started to percolate in my head and the theme started percolating in my head and I thought 'I think we know where we're going to go now'."

The new season of the Late Late Show will kick off on Friday, September 6.
