Ryan Tubridy melted people's hearts after he reunited with Late Late Toy Show star Adam King at his home in Cork recently.

He even showed off his lunch on the road - a packet of Salt and Vinegar Hula Hoops - before revealing what was up.

"We have landed in Cork, and nearly two years ago I promised I would visit a little friend of mine and I couldn't for ages and ages, and it's going to happen today," Ryan said in an Instagram story clip.

The Late Late Show presenter was finally able to give Adam a hug in person, two years on from his Toy Show appearance.

"It took two years but we got there, coffee, cake and a hug from Adam" Ryan wrote in a second video, posting a clip of him scooping the 8-year-old up into his arms for a hug as his family stood outside their home to greet him.

What followed was an afternoon of fun - with swings, roundabouts, cake and a trampoline.

Adam captured the hearts and minds of the nation when he appeared on the first Covid-era Toy Show, wowing viewers with his love of space.

He was surprised on the show by the appearance of his favourite hospital porter John Doyle, who has helped the young boy with his osteogenesis imperfecta since his diagnosis.

Since Adam's appearance on the show, he has become an inspiring figure for thousands across the country.

He's teamed up with the likes of An Post for his own special 'Hug for You' stamp and postcards, as well as keeping his fans updated via Adam King Adventures.

Ryan broadcasted his radio show from the Imperial Hotel in the lovely southern city on Monday morning, live from the Michael Collins suite.

It wasn't the first time this year we've seen him visit a Toy Show alumnus.

In June, he popped along to Galway to visit Saoirse Ruane.

Saoirse was diagnosed with cancer for a second time and underwent surgery on her lung in May.

Ryan took a trip to see his little pal at her school, where he met with her teachers and her mother.
