Ryan Tubridy left 'gobsmacked' after 90,000 apply for Toy Show tickets

Ryan Tubridy has said he was left 'gobsmacked' by the overwhelming demand for tickets to this year's Late Late Toy Show.

Applications for the much loved Christmas show opened last Friday and saw more than 90,000 punters apply.

The RTE host said: "We are gobsmacked by the response this year, it just gets bigger and bigger, everyone seems to want to be there.

"I think it's also in response to how warm and kind and inclusive the show is...people want a piece of that pie and I don't blame them, it's the most wonderful cauldron to be in and the most wonderful time of the year.

"If I wasn't doing what I do, I would also be among the 100,000 applicants for tickets because it's the best show in town."

Last year's show adopted the hit Hugh Jackman film The Greatest Showman as the theme.

But this year's theme for the one night a year show currently remains top secret and will only be revealed in the days leading up to the big night.

Last year saw 100,000 people apply to be part of the audience and RTE say they look set to surpass that amount this year given the early interest.

RTE have also said that over 5,000 acts from all across Ireland have also applied for the chance to appear on the show.

Anyone looking to get their hands on tickets can head here and fill out an application form.

The Late Late Toy show will air on RTE One on November 29.
