Ryan Tubridy giddily plays RTE clip where Piers Morgan opened up about Meghan Markle incident

The world is still reeling from the fallout of Meghan Markle's and Prince Harry's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

While Markle's explosive claims about Buckingham Palace captivated millions of viewers across the globe, the headlines were dominated yesterday by former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan.

Morgan who has long been a critic of Markle sensationally stormed off the set live on air after being told off by his colleague Alex Beresford for his commentary on Meghan over the years.

Now Ryan Tubridy is the latest to weigh in on all the drama of the last couple of days as he took a look back on Morgan's appearance on the Late Late Show where he infamously claimed that Meghan had 'ghosted' him.

Speaking on his RTE Radio One show Tubs explained how he had been inundated by people who told him the clip from the interview was being shared everywhere in the wake of the controversy.

And the RTE star couldn't help but share the clip with his listeners as he giddily explained: "Piers Morgan, presenter, came on the show. I asked him about being burned by Meghan. He gave the answer. Here's what he said."

Ryan then played the infamous moment in the interview where Piers told the Late Late host: "We had two hours in the pub, she had a couple of dirty martinis and pints - we got on brilliantly.

"Then I put her in a cab, and it turns out it was the cab that took her to a party where she met Prince Harry. The next night they had a solo dinner and that was the last I ever heard from Meghan Markle.

"I never heard from her again - Meghan Markle ghosted me."

He added: "I didn't really like being ghosted like that; I thought it was a bit of a strange thing to do.

Speaking about the interview Tubs said: "That's the clip that got a lot of traction yesterday obviously because he stormed off his own TV show and he has caused a lot of controversy in the middle of it all.

"So he's kind of nearly competing with the Queen for attention in British media.

"So that story rumbles along."

ITV confirmed yesterday that Morgan has quit Good Morning Britain, amid complaints about his on-air comments about Meghan Markle this week.

The star clashed with GMB co-star Alex Beresford on the show on Tuesday, after his response to Meghan and husband Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey which aired on Monday night.

ITV confirmed: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

"ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."

Piers himself took to Twitter just minutes before the statement was released by ITV, with nothing but an image of a clock.

Just hours earlier, it was revealed Ofcom would be investigating complaints made against GMB and the host following Monday's tense episode.

ITV were also said to be having talks with the star, who would mark six years on the show this year.

After the couple's tell-all chat with Winfrey aired in the US on Sunday night, Piers spent much of Monday's GMB ranting about the bombshell allegations.
