Ryan Tubridy delighted with haircut but has no plans to head to the pub as Phase Three begins

The Late Late Show presenter Ryan Tubridy has posted a picture to show off his fresh haircut as barbers reopen, but says he won't be heading to the pub for a drink just yet.

Monday saw the beginning of phase three of the government's lifting of restrictions and barbers, hairdressers, pubs and restaurants are beginning to reopen their doors for the first time in months.

Despite Tubridy's delight at his new haircut after months of going without, he admitted he won't be able to go to the pub just yet.

Speaking on RTE Radio One he said: "It's a new sense of beginning in many ways because the lockdown and the restrictions are easing today.

"The pubs are kind of opening. I went down to two local restaurants at the weekend to say, 'Would you have a table free on Monday if I kind of wanted to join the bandwagon?' and they said, 'No we're closed, we're going to open until Wednesday or maybe Friday'.

"And then a couple of pubs that I would maybe be frequenting ordinarily in normal times are also closed so won't be heading out myself.

"But I know a lot of people have booked their times and their slots and that's exciting."

Ryan also expressed how happy he was that the reopening of pubs and restaurants will give people the chance to meet up with friends and family again.

He said: "I think the most important thing today is to say to people is enjoy that first hug that you haven't had for a long long time.

"You are like warriors in the desert who have not had a glass of water for months and this hug is your glass of water.

"These houses that you're going to and the family and friends that you're going to meet, they're your oasis, you've got there."
