Ryan Tubridy and Catherine Corless have both been applauded for the Mother and Baby Homes segment of the show on Friday night's Late Late Show.
Viewers heaped praise on the RTE host for his compassionate intro to the show - the star said: "Ireland feels your pain tonight".
Catherine Corless then spoke strongly to Ryan about the adoptees and survivors of Mother and Baby Homes battle to access their personal data.
The historian said: "It's a basic human right to know your identity.
"That's all they want, they just want information, identity is a huge thing with them.
"To know their identity, to know where their mother's went, to know was she alright, to know how she fared out in life.
"When you think about it it's so cruel, it's so wrong."
Tubridy added: "It's a basic human right."
Dozens of viewers applauded Catherine Corless for her interview and her work through the years.
One said: "An amazing lady, a great debt of gratitude is owed to her for the tireless work that she has done in campaigning for justice for all victims of abuse in Mother and Baby homes."
Another added: "To me as an Adoptee, Catherine has become a campaigner through her unwaivering dedication to the victims of the Bon Secours order in Tuam and to the survivors of an archaic, biased, inhumane, hypocritical & patriarchal system, that perpetuated our pain while denying us our rights."
