American video artist Ryan Trecartin sees himself as a bridge between digital technology and the rest of the world. His video works are rooted in that transition, and explore the way the internet has altered the way people relate to one another and themselves. He fashions frenetic and insightful layered works, which the New Yorker described as full of “breaking news about the future”.
Following his Australian debut in Melbourne, his 2009 piece Sibling Topics (section a) and 2013 Centre Jenny will be exhibited along with four other video works in Western Australia, coinciding with the Perth International Arts Festival.
