Ryan Thomas has spoken candidly about parenting after his fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh welcomed their second child together.

The dad also praised his two-year-old son Roman who he revealed has really risen to the challenge of being a big brother.

The 38-year-old former Coronation Street star welcomed daughter Lilah Rae with former The Only Way Is Essex star Mecklenburgh, 30, in May.

Speaking to the Standard, he said: “A newborn is always pretty full-on. It’s a hectic chaos, but peacefulness in my house, that’s the only way I can put it. We are all just in our little nest at the moment enjoying the new arrival.”

Thomas and Mecklenburgh are also proud parents to toddler Roman. Plus, he shares 13-year-old daughter Scarlett with ex Tina O’Brien.

Despite his tender years, he said Roman is proving to be a great big brother and even helps his parents out around the house.

He said: “Roman knows exactly what’s going on. He’s very caring and very considerate and helps out around the house. And sometimes you’ll say ‘oh, get us your nappies’ and help us out and he does it, other times he’s like ‘NO!’ We just have to play along. He has really been great.”

During our chat, the former Celebrity Big Brother winner also reflected on his time in Australian soap Neighbours which is set to come to an end after 37 years later this month.

Thomas – who in 2018 played Rafael Humphrey, a British tourist with a troubled past – said: “It was one of the most amazing times for me going out to Australia and waking up and seeing beautiful beaches.

“I think it’s very much like Coronation Street, it’s a real family show, a team effort and about togetherness and I think all [the cast] will all be upset to see the show go, knowing they can’t see each other every day.

“I know it’s a shame, for all soap casts you become like a family. It’s going to be a sad time watching the last episode.”

Brothers Ryan and Adam Thomas have teamed up for a new campaign with Oreos (James Linsell-Clark)

The Games star will be well-stocked for snacks when he tunes in as he has recently teamed up with Waterloo Road actor brother Adam Thomas, 33, for a new campaign with Oreo cookies and they claim they now have a lifetime supply.

As part of the campaign, which celebrates and debates the different ways people enjoy eating the iconic black and white cookie, a study was conducted which found 63 per cent of 2,000 surveyed adults love to experiment with unusual food pairings.

When asked what the strangest combination they had tried and surprisingly enjoyed, they said Oreos with sour cream and chive which they concluded “wasn’t bad”.
