Ryan Thomas and Lucy Mecklenburgh dropped 5 stone between them using Roman as a weight

Ryan Thomas shed a stone and fiancee Lucy Mecklenburgh dropped four stone thanks, in part, to workouts weightlifting their nine-month-old son Roman.

The fitness fanatic couple used growing Roman as a substitute for kettle bell while practising squats and lifts together.

Ryan says: "We used to do some training with him in the park – exercises using Roman, which was hilarious.

"It's a day-to-day struggle with that boy, let me tell you, with how much weight he's putting on.

"I'm done in – I'm holding him up and I'm knackered. He is helping me get fit."

Ryan revealed that in the first lockdown he gained weight, before getting back in shape on Lucy's fitness programme.

And he credits her with helping him stay active, saying: "Sometimes I'll say, 'I'm going for a run' and she'll say, 'You've not been for that run yet'.

"I don't know if it's a nudge to say, 'You know, you've put on weight, you need to get out', or she is just trying to be nice."

Lucy dropped her baby weight within six months, but cautions: "There's no magic pill, no fad diet and no quick fix."

You can hear Ryan chat to brothers Adam and Scott Thomas in their new podcast, Mancs on The Mic.
