Ryan Sessegnon suffers injury setback ahead of Tottenham's Champions League opener vs Olympiacos

Tottenham Hotspur summer signing Ryan Sessegnon will have to wait a bit longer to make his Spurs debut, after suffering a setback in his recovery from injury.

The full-back, who signed from Fulham on deadline day, has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury while on international duty over the summer.

The 19-year-old was thought to be closing in on a return to action, with reports that he would be in first team training over the international break and ready to make his Spurs debut.

But that is not the case.

Spurs are out in Greece at the moment, gearing up for their first Champions League clash of the season, with a game against Olympiacos on Wednesday night.

But when Spurs posted a video of their squad boarding the plane at Stansted on Tuesday morning, Sessegnon was nowhere to be seen.

And Tottenham have confirmed that he has suffered a setback in his injury rehabilitation, which will keep him out for longer than first hoped.

In a statement on injuries, Spurs said: "Undergoing assessment after reporting irritation with previous hamstring injury."

Juan Foyth and Giovani Lo Celso remain out injured, while Danny Rose and Serge Aurier have not travelled to Greece either.
