Ryan Sessegnon Celtic transfer 'interest' as Jose Mourinho set to make call on £25m Tottenham left-back

Premiership champions Celtic are one of a host of clubs who have expressed an interest in Tottenham left-back Ryan Sessegnon - according to a report.

The retrained winger endured a bumpy first season in North London making only 12 appearances in all competitions after his £25m switch from Fulham.

And now the Athletic report that the Hoops, AC Milan, Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen, Brighton and Newcastle have contacted Spurs over a potential deal.

Sessegnon would be out of Celtic's price range for a permanent switch but a loan move could reignite the 20-year-old who is regarded as one of the most talented players of his generation.

But his redemption arc could also take place at Tottenham with Jose Mourinho understood to be ready to give the jet-heeled England U21 star a real chance.

Ben Davies is entrenched as the starter but there's a "will" to see Sessegnon make things work after such a significant financial outlay.

It's also stated that Barcelona have been keeping a watchful eye on his progression.

Meanwhile, Neil Lennon is hoping Celtic can establish a fruitful partnership with the La Liga heavyweights after Henrik Larsson returned to the Nou Camp as Ronald Koeman' assistant.

“Obviously I have got a direct line into Barcelona which might be very beneficial for us going forward.

“It is great to have contacts around the game and people you have either played with or worked with before at clubs. It is a great move for Henrik. It is an outstanding chapter for him in his career.

“I am delighted for Henrik. It is a great appointment for him. Koeman is an outstanding manager.

“Obviously Barcelona bringing him in speaks for itself. Henrik has history there. It is a brilliant step forward for him in terms of the coaching side of things. I am sure he will learn a lot.”
