Ryan Reynolds offers support as Wrexham captain suffers 'gut-wrenching' family tragedy

Ryan Reynolds has sent his support to Wrexham captain Ben Tozer after his father tragically passed away over the weekend.

Tozer, 33, revealed on social media that his father found out on Saturday that he had leukaemia.

He underwent an immediate brain operation but sadly died on Monday.

Speaking on social media, Tozer said: "On Saturday, I was told my Dad has Leukaemia but it's treatable.

"On Sunday night, he required a brain operation, which went positively, then last night the unthinkable happened.

"Sadly, all of this happened because he had left it too late.

"Unknowingly, he was masking the fact he was [in] complete agony.

"'Go and get checked' we regularly said. He was just too scared of what it could be. Thank you, Dad. Our last words together will live with me forever. I love you. I hope we have all done you proud."

Wrexham retweeted Tozer's tribute with the words: "So sorry to hear this. Our thoughts are with you and your family."

Club co-owner Reynolds, who has struck up a close bond with a number of Wrexham's players, wrote: "Gut wrenching. Sending so much love to the Tozer family."

Wrexham are busy preparing for their first season back in the Football League in 15 years and face Manchester United and Chelsea in friendlies in the US later this month.
