Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElenney 'utterly serious about revitalising Wrexham AFC'

Life has become surreal for the Welsh trailer manufacturers who became the toast of Hollywood this week.

After actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham AFC, they posted a tongue-in-cheek video plugging the non-league team’s sponsors, Ifor Williams Trailers.

It was watched by 4.6 million people. Company director Carole Williams said she had chatted to Deadpool star Ryan and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s actor Rob.

She said: “They rang me last night and I had a lovely chat with them.

“They are very funny guys but clearly also very clever and kind. They are utterly serious about revitalising the club. We’re dreaming of a happy Hollywood ending.”

Interest in her company has “skyrocketed”.

She said: “We’ve already had astronaut, Commander Chris Hadfield, asking if we deliver to Canada and the answer is yes.

“All we need to know from Chris is whether he’s looking for a tipper, livestock, horsebox or beavertail trailer. “

The takeover is set to become a documentary, which already has an A List cast – though fans are hoping Russell Crowe, whose grandfather was from Wrexham, might join in too.

Danny Dyer's unusual discovery

When he moved into his Essex home, Danny Dyer unearthed an unusual item in an outhouse that had evidently been used for parties...

He says: “There were thousands of wine bottles and some medieval stocks. I’m not sure what sort of parties they got up to, but we kept them. We felt we should keep the tradition going on.

“We’ve had lots of fun... We invited the neighbours over and we all used the stocks. I wondered why they all kept putting their keys in the bowl...”

Clarifying he was joking, the EastEnders star insists he would “never be into that swinging game”.

“I’m too lazy,” he reasons.
