Ryan Porteous wanted by KV Oostende as Hibs face transfer battle from club that turned Jack Hendry's fortunes

KV Oostende are keen on a £1 million move for Hibs’ cup final star Ryan Porteous.

The Belgian side have a full dossier on the central defender and will watch him again in Sunday’s Hampden Premier Sports Cup final with Celtic.

Porteous is also aware of the growing interest.

Oostende have already previously struck gold with Scottish international Jack Hendry, who they sold to Club Brugge in the summer.

They are now considering another Premiership raid for Porteous, who is out of contract in the summer of 2023.

They are also aware that contract extension talks between Hibs and the 22-year-old have so far failed to lead to a breakthrough.

Porteous has also seen how Hendry’s move to Belgium helped his career to kick on.

He was out of favour at Celtic and was sent there on-loan and Hendry was a standout for KV and won a Scotland recall.

He is now playing in the Champions League and a regular in Steve Clarke’s international squad.

Porteous has also been linked with Russian side FC Krasnodar but the Oostende interest is far more concrete.

He has previously been the subject of failed bids from English Championship side Millwall at the start of the year.
