Hibs have appealed the red card shown to Ryan Porteous in Sunday's Premiership clash against Rangers.
With Jack Ross' side leading 1-0 at Ibrox through Kevin Nisbet, Porteous' lunge on Joe Aribo was punished with a sending off from referee Nick Walsh after 30 minutes.
The champions would go on to turn the game around with Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos netting and securing a 2-1 victory.
Manager Ross insisted he disagreed with the decision at first but on seeing an alternative angle of the incident conceded that his defender's leg was high as he tackled Nigeria cap Aribo.
Porteous' challenge will now judged by a three-man SFA panel of former officials.
If the on-pitch decision is upheld, the 22-year-old will miss Hibs' next two games after the international break, which are a home clash against Dundee United on October 16 followed by a trip to Aberdeen on October 23.
Easter Road chief executive Ben Kensell said: “After reviewing footage of the incident, we have decided to appeal the decision.
“We believe we have enough evidence to show his challenge was not worthy of a sending off.
“We will await an answer from the SFA and stand united with Ryan, who has our absolute support.”
