Ryan Porteous Rangers red card appeal booted out by SFA as Hibs defender to serve two match ban

Ryan Porteous has lost his appeal against the red card during the clash with Rangers for his lunge on Joe Aribo.

The Hibs stopper was given his marching orders during his side’s 2-1 defeat against the champions at Ibrox on Sunday.

But the Easter Road side appealed the decision in the hope Nick Walsh’s decision would be overturned.

However, it was booted out by the SFA and Porteous will now miss next two Scottish Premiership games at home to Dundee United and away to Aberdeen.

A club statement read: “We can confirm that our appeal against Ryan Porteous’ sending off against Rangers has been unsuccessful.

“Our centre back was dismissed on the half-hour mark for a challenge on Joe Aribo in our 2-1 defeat at Ibrox.

“After receiving our appeal the SFA deemed his sending off was not a case of wrongful dismissal, which means that Porteous will serve a two-match ban.

“He will miss our first two games after the international break when we face Dundee United at home (Saturday October 16) and Aberdeen away (Saturday October 23).”
