Ryan Porteous has been included in the Scotland Under 21 squad for next month’s Under 21 European Championship qualifiers.
The Hibs defender is a key member of Scot Gemmill’s side, who take on the Czech Republic at Tynecastle on Friday, 9 October (kick-off 5.30pm) before travelling to face San Marino on Tuesday 13 (kick-off 4.30pm).
Porteous has made 12 appearances so far for the young Scots and has been included in Steve Clarke’s senior pool, but is yet to make his full international debut.
The 21-year-old was in the headlines after this side’s 2-2 draw with Rangers at Easter Road.
He was involved in an off the ball clash with Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos in the first half.
Referee Don Robertson booked Porteous, but others claimed the ref would have been justified in showing a red card.
Morelos and Rangers captain James Tavernier both refused to shake Porteous’ hand after the final whistle, and the centre back was also involved in an exchange of words with Gers boss Steven Gerrard.
The Ibrox gaffer revealed later that the Hibs player had accused Tavernier of being a ”bad loser” after his full-time snub.
