Ryan Mason reveals what Harry Kane told him ahead of cup final that will delight Tottenham fans

Harry Kane is back in the Tottenham XI amid doubts over his place in the team for the Carabao Cup final against Man City.

Injuring his ankle against Everton at Goodison Park just over a week ago, Spurs fans immediately feared the worst given his previous issues in the past.

Absent for the midweek win against Southampton as he took his place in the stands to watch the team come from behind to claim three points, the England captain only returned to training at Hotspur Way on Friday but trained away from his teammates.

Despite the question marks over his place in the side, interim head coach Mason restored his former teammate to the team for the final showdown at Wembley after Kane confirmed that he was fit enough to start.

Speaking ahead of the game to Sky Sports, he said: “Harry said he’s fit, so that’s enough for me. He’s trained with the group, so he’s fit and ready to go."

Following a crazy week at Tottenham with Jose Mourinho losing his job on Monday amid intense pressure on his shoulders following a nightmare run of form, Mason takes charge of the team after impressing with the work he has done with the club's youngsters over the past few years.

Not so long ago when he was taking to the pitch for the club, it caps a remarkable couple of years for the 29-year-old as he leads his team out at Wembley.

“I’ve not really thought about it, to be honest," he added. "I’ve just been preparing and trying to help the players as much as possible and like I said, Wednesday was big for us, so we can come into today full of confidence.

“I had it as a player, listen, you play football for moments, today is a moment and hopefully we can make it a positive one and make a bit of history for the football club.”
