Ryan Mason issues Harry Kane injury update ahead of Tottenham vs Man City Carabao Cup final

Ryan Mason has confirmed that he is unsure if Harry Kane will be back in time for Tottenham's Carabao Cup final against Man City.

Netting two goals against Everton in the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park last week, the England captain was substituted off by Jose Mourinho in the final few minutes of the contest after injuring his ankle.

Although the Spurs striker didn't leave Merseyside on crutches after the draw, he was walking gingerly as he made his way to the team bus.

Not training with his teammates at Hotspur Way earlier in the week ahead of Wednesday's game at home to Southampton, Kane watched on from the stands as the team came from behind to grab a crucial 2-1 victory.

With Mason once again asked about the 27-year-old in his post-match press conference, he did state that the club were taking each day as it comes and that his former teammate was doing everything possible to make it back in time for the Wembley showdown.

Well, the interim head coach was again pressed on Kane's fitness when previewing the Carabao Cup final on Friday afternoon and he provided a fresh update just over 48 hours away from the match.

"We're not sure yet," he said. "He didn't train with the team today but we'll have more of an idea tomorrow to see if we can get him back on the pitch."

Asked to rate his chances of making it, he added: "I'm not really sure. It's a case of taking it hour by hour now. So the days are obviously running out.

"It's a case of seeing how he feels in the next four hours, the next six hours, and go from there. I can't really answer than question until tomorrow. Everyone isn't sure."
