Ryan Mason issues fresh update on Harry Kane's Tottenham future amid summer transfer exit talk

Ryan Mason believes Harry Kane has not asked to leave Tottenham Hotspur amid talk of a summer transfer.

Linked with an exit from Tottenham in previous years due to his stunning form in front of goal, talk of the striker moving on this summer has gone into overdrive over the past 24 hours.

It was reported on Monday evening that the 27-year-old has now told the club that he wants to move elsewhere at the end of the season following another disappointing season for Spurs.

However, football.london understands that Kane has not directly informed Tottenham of his desire to leave the club at this stage, but his growing frustration with the consistent lack of silverware at Spurs and another poor campaign means he would be willing to consider a new challenge this summer.

With a potential exit for Kane now dominating all the headlines ahead of Tottenham's home game against Aston Villa on Wednesday, Spurs interim head coach Mason was quizzed on if Kane has asked to leave the club.

"No, not that I'm aware of.," he stated. "Like I say, all this speculation I'm not sure.

"All of my conversations I've had with H have been about the game the other day and also preparing for the game tomorrow. So no, I don't know."

With Mason and his team fully focused on beating Aston Villa in their quest to finish in a European place, the interim boss has confirmed that his main man is likely to start in the match in N17.

"“I think he starts tomorrow. Because he’s our best striker, and one of the best strikers in the world," he added.

"I’ve said all along, and I’ve been pretty consistent in my messages to you guys, whether that’s about my future, whether that’s about management, managers for next season, the facts are that I’m here for the next two games.

"And that’s my main focus, on putting a team out and preparing a football team, to win those games of football. And hopefully tomorrow we can do that, with Harry at the front, and hopefully has an influence on the game.”

Both close friends after coming through the Spurs academy to play for the first team, the interim boss was then pressed on if the striker has said anything to him regarding a move.

“I speak to Harry pretty much every day. Before I got this job, I spoke to Harry pretty much every day. He’s excited, along with me, about tomorrow," confirmed the 29-year-old.

"Our only discussions have been about the game tomorrow, about the game at the weekend against Wolves He’s excited. We’re all excited.

"We want to play in front of our fans. It’s a home game in the Premier League, and we know the importance of it. We’re looking forward to tomorrow.”
