Ryan Mason hails ‘outstanding’ Emerson Royal on Tottenham return

Ryan Mason has hailed the “outstanding” Emerson Royal following Tottenham’s win over Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian made his first appearance March as Spurs moved up to sixth in the Premier League table thanks to Harry Kane’s header on the stroke of half-time.

Kane’s goal saw him overtake Wayne Rooney in the Premier League’s scoring list and within Alan Shearer’s record haul of 51.

Royal impressed as part of a back three and the 24-year-old continues to turn the tide on his career at the club after a difficult start to life in north London.

Even after the signing of Pedro Porro, Emerson has proven he can play a key role in defence and having him available for the final few games of the campaign is a major boost.

“He was outstanding.

“I thought the whole team without the ball worked hard, they worked together. And obviously Eme has had a period out. But I trust him.

“We trust him. And I thought today he did a very good job along with the rest of the players on the pitch.”
