Paulo Fonseca is set to be announced as Tottenham's new manager in the coming days, football.london understands.
The former Roma head coach and Fabio Paratici could be confirmed as Spurs' new boss and Director of Football, respectively, as early as this weekend.
Spurs have been on the hunt for a new permanent manager since Jose Mourinho was sacked in April. Ryan Mason took interim charge of the first team following Mourinho's sacking and did a more than respectable job in his short spell.
In the Premier League, in Mason's six games in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs won four of them.
However, despite his efforts, he couldn't convince Daniel Levy to appoint him on a permanent basis. Fonseca looks set to come in now but Mason will still have a role at the north London club, according to Duncan Castles.
The journalist was speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, where he said Mason will remain at the club in a new setup under Fonseca.
It has also been reported that former Spurs captain Ledley King will be one of the soon-to-be Tottenham manager's assistants after spending time under Mourinho.
During his short spell as interim boss, Mason spoke to Sky Sports about the challenges of managing a club like Spurs.
He said: "There's always another press conference, another training session and more videos to watch. So, in terms of reflection, no, but I've liked it and I am enjoying the moment.
"It has been an amazing experience and I am incredibly proud, but in terms of reflection, I feel like these things probably happen when you are not actually working every day.
"I feel like I've learned an incredible amount at the football club, with the coaches I've been around each day, taking the U16s, the U18s, the U19s and the U23s. So I've had a really good learning curve.
"I know people will say I'm young. Yes, I am, but I believe I've been exposed to a lot in such a short space of time that age becomes irrelevant. I've enjoyed learning, I'm still learning, and I'll always be learning like any coach or any player. It's important you are still open to learning.
"It's been a really good experience."
