Ryan Lowe not envious of Sunderland's injury problems ahead of play-off push

Ryan Lowe is not envious of Sunderland's injury problems ahead of their trip to Home Park this weekend.

The Black Cats travel to the south coast needing three points to secure their play-off status but still have just one fit central defender in Bailey Wright.

Lee Johnson revealed Conor McLaughlin could be involved for the Wearsiders this weekend after a positive recovery from a second hernia operation.

Argyle have fitness issues of their own with injuries to Sam Woods and Adam Lewis.

Speaking to Plymouth's official website, Lowe said: "As we say we're a bit wounded. Sam's [Woods] done his hamstring and Adam Lewis has done his ankle ligaments, Conor [Grant] is back training with us.

"We've got to wrap them up in cotton wool a bit, there's only two games to go. We're not going to risk anyone with potentially a long term injury.

"The lads have had an extra day off so they've got a bit of freshness in them. It is what it is. We're going to put a team selection together for Saturday and it's a bonus to have Conor [Grant] back.

"Hopefully we can get through the next two games."

Argyle's season may be over but the Plymouth boss wants his side to pick up maximum points from their final two games of the season.

Lowe added: "Listen, I'd rather be in my shoes than someone else's shoes who's fighting to get into the play-offs with those injuries.

"That's just the way it is and I think this season has been tough all along. The games are thick and fast and the programme has been intense.

"It's been 100 miles an hour but for us we're never going to risk anyone with any sort of injuries especially with the way our season has gone.

"We're safe and we've got two games to play. We want them - the games we're playing in - I want them to do as well as they can and it may be an opportunity for one or two of the youngsters to showcase their abilities as well.

"In terms of injuries throughout the season you've just got to persevere because you're going to get them."
