Ryan Kerrigan sets tone for Redskins’ end-of-season stretch

Washington Redskins leader Ryan Kerrigan just wants to see his team finish strong.

The Redskins stumbled out to a 1-7 record, juggling controversy at left tackle, losing a head coach and fumbling through multiple starters under center. The lone win came by a single point against the tanking Dolphins.

Understandably, Kerrigan has sought out a baby-steps approach for his squad, per Redskins.com’s Jacob Steinberg:

“Just gotta keep improving each day, that’s really the mindset, find a way to get better each day. At practice, in the film room, it’s obviously not where we want to be at 1-7, but we got eight games left. Hopefully we can bounce back and finish the season on a positive note.”

A noble quote from a quiet leader who falls into the “criminally underrated” category around the league.

Small improvements across the board is a worthwhile goal at this point. The Redskins have to deal with the red-hot Bills before the bye, then have tough games against teams like Carolina and Green Bay, as well as three more NFC East games, the rest of the way.

For the Redskins, the needle might not move much in the win column from this point. But Kerrigan has set a good tone for his team — whether everyone delivers should be an interesting watch.
