Ryan Kerrigan says he wants to be Redskin for life; has no concerns about role

In a world where crazy things have come true, and wild things are waiting around every corner, you could have convinced someone that the Washington Redskins were willing to trade veteran DE Ryan Kerrigan at some point this offseason. There were never any rumors of much substance, but with the draft selection of Chase Young, and a turn towards younger talent on the roster, a move for Kerrigan to a Super Bowl contending team wouldn’t have been outside the realm of conceivable possibilities.

However, it seems that Kerrigan has no desire to be anywhere else but Washington. When talking to media members last week, he made that very clear.

It seems like Kerrigan will end up taking a lesser role this season with Young slotting into the starting lineup, and he might serve as more of a situational rusher while still acting as one of the leaders of the defense. When star players like Kerrigan start to reach the back-nine of their careers, it can often get contentious as they push for more playing time. What’s important is that Kerrigan says he knows where he stands, and that he and Ron Rivera can be open and honest with each other about how they can best work things going forward.
