Ryan Kerrigan’s reps, Redskins meeting at NFL combine

One of the more interesting facets of the Washington Redskins offseason is what to do with star edge rusher Ryan Kerrigan.

Kerrigan only has one year left on his deal and after a recent cap purge including names like Josh Norman, it wasn’t so outlandish to think Kerrigan could have been next.

But according to ESPN’s John Keim, Kerrigan’s reps and the Redskins will meet at the combine this week and an extension could very well be in the cards.

Given the amount of cap space cleared, maybe it shouldn’t be surprising the Redskins will look to retain one of their own over the long term instead of spending big on an outside name.

Kerrigan is 31 and his final year pays him more than $11 million. But it’s hard to imagine a better mentor for Montez Sweat, if not Chase Young.
