Ryan Kent to Rangers: Kyle Lafferty compares Ibrox signing to Real Madrid star Eden Hazard

Kyle Lafferty believes Ryan Kent can one day become as good as Real Madrid star Eden Hazard.

Rangers completed a £7million deal to bring Kent back to Ibrox on a deadline day of drama.

Steven Gerrard finally got his man after an agreement was rubber stamped with Liverpool on Monday.

The winger has penned a permanent contract having passed a medical and agreed personal terms despite interest from Club Brugge.

Lafferty believes Kent’s decision to return to Rangers is a massive boost to the Ibrox club.

The Northern Ireland striker fed off the winger’s service last season and places him in the highest bracket of former team-mates, putting Kent alongside talents such as Juventus superstar Paulo Dybala and Torino’s Andrea Belotti.

And Lafferty is convinced the 22-year-old’s transfer deadline return is a title race game changer and that Kent can become as good as Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard.

Lafferty said: “After one game last season I spoke to Ryan in the showers. People were raving about Eden Hazard and his ability to know what he’s going to do before the ball comes to him.

“I said to Kenty, ‘Mate, you could be as good as him, if not better.’

“He has everything in his locker. He could probably add a few more goals but the chances he creates and winning games is what he does. I’m excited already to see him play.

“It’s crazy to think he’s back. This is the biggest and most significant signing of the season.

“Ryan’s in the top three of the best I’ve played with and I’ve had Dybala and Belotti as team-mates. I’m more than happy to say that as he provides something special.

“It’s about how he takes the ball, how he runs with it and I’ve seen him absolutely destroy defenders.

“Ryan’s a match-winner and to have him is a massive statement for Rangers.”
