Ryan Kent sends Rangers fans wild as winger given Twitter accolade

Rangers star Ryan Kent cemented his hero status for fans when he scored the goal that took Steven Gerrard's side through to the last 16 of the Europa League.

The £7m winger got on the end of an Ianis Hagi through ball to fire the Gers through 4-2 on aggregate.

And his exploits have attracted attention outside of Scotland, with Twitter updating the header photo on their own official account to a photo of Kent celebrating.

The Rangers man is in good company, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Lionel Messi also featuring on the header image, which is changed regularly.

The account has 57.2m followers and put out a call for a new header image, resulting in more than 12,000 replies.

Rangers fans were delighted with the change, and made it clear in the replies.

Here are some of the reactions.

@stevensouness: God bless Twitter

@RossS1873: Twitter has peaked

@laing1974: Beautiful
