A talkSPORT host has been ridiculed for placing Rangers star Ryan Kent into his 'Team of the Season' - for the English Premier League.
Adrian Durham made the bizarre statement on his radio show this afternoon when asked to name his top 11 down south this season.
Now fans have pointed out that if Kent has made the list - he's beaten off competition from the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
Kent has scored 11 goals and notched 13 assists in a good season for the Gers, where he’s been an important player in both in the Premiership and the Europa League.
And so, when naming his left midfielder for his ‘Premier League’ Team of the Season, talkSPORT host Durham said: "Here’s my left-field pick that you’re going to absolutely ruin me for – he’s not even playing in the Premier League – I’ve gone for Ryan Kent at Rangers.
“I have to take my hat off to what Rangers have done this season and I think he’d get in a lot of Premier League sides.
“So, I just thought, you have to have admiration for what’s happened there. I think he’s been one of the best players I’ve seen this season, so why wouldn’t I put him in there.”
As he finishes, co-host Darren Gough can be heard in the background saying “you’ve lost the plot”.
And many fans of English clubs were quick to rubbish Durham's take, with some pointing out that if Kent is eligible for the Premier League team of the season then Haaland, Mbappe and Messi should be too.
One person said: "PL team of the season and he picks a player that doesn’t play in the PL - just as well chuck Haaland and Mbappe on the bench."
Another said: "Premier League team of the season and he chooses Ryan Kent from Rangers. Bloke is stealing a living. Might as well pick Haaland as your striker as well!"
While another added: "Messi gets in mine."
