Ryan Kent reveals Rangers insider who convinced him on Fenerbahce transfer move

FORMER Rangers star Ryan Kent revealed got the lowdown on Fenerbahce from Ibrox teammate Ridvan Yilmaz before deciding to move to Turkish football.

And he admits he can't wait to team up with celebrated veteran former Manchester City and Roma striker Edin Dzeko at the Istanbul club.

Kent made his debut for Fenerbahce this week in Russia in a pre-season friendly against Zenit St Petersburg where he played 83 minutes before being subbed.

But before he agreed to sign for Fenerbahce, Kent took advice from Rangers' £5.3 million full back Yilmaz, who previously played for Besiktas.

Kent said: "I spoke to Rıdvan Yılmaz before I decided to sign for Fenerbahce,

"But I have to say that I didn't want anyone to influence my decision and I already knew about the size of Fenerbahce.

"The most important factor for me is that this club always plays to win and the huge ambition they have.

"Now I will be playing with Edin Dzeko and what a great career he has had.

"He is very humble though and I am very excited to be playing with Dzeko. I can't wait to learn from him.

"I can't wait to get started in the league and to play in Istanbul derbies.

"These kinds of matches are special games. Regardless of the conditions, you want to win these matches.

"We have a lot of new players and we are all trying to create chemistry."

Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsey was due to undergo a Cardiff medical on Thursday ahead of completing a return to his boyhood club.

The Wales captain and former Arsenal midfielder is set to turn down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia to sign for the Bluebirds and play in the Sky Bet Championship.

Ramsey triggered a 12-month extension at Nice after playing a set number of matches for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

But the 32-year-old has made no secret of his desire to be closer to his Cardiff-based family.

“This season has been a success for me personally, I played a lot of games and some good football,” Ramsey said on international duty last month.

“The most challenging thing is being away from my family. That’s the situation I find myself in.

“I’ve been away from my family and seeing the kids growing up, missing out, it’s always difficult. Difficult for anyone to go through, I imagine.

“Whatever we do going forward, we will be reunited and back together.”
