Ryan Kent reveals burgeoning bond with Rangers star Alfredo Morelos

Ryan Kent has explained how his on-field relationship with 20-goal Alfredo Morelos is developing.

The £7million winger has had a minimal impact due to injury so far this season but is now back close to his best as the approaches 100 per cent.

Steven Gerrard splashed the cash on the forward for his ability to travel with the ball and create chances and the notion of his reconnecting with improved Morelos will be tantalising to fans.

Kent has explained that despite the disruption caused by his injuries there are clear signs of progress on the nascent partnership with the Colombian.

He said: "It's getting better and better. I think it's been a little bit stop-start due to injuries but we are still building on the same relationship that we had last season.

"It's down to me to go on delivering chances for him to put away because he's in good form at the moment in front of goal."

The aforementioned injury woes may have put his development in temporary stasis but Kent clearly sees the rarefied atmosphere of European competition as his natural stage.

With quick feet and pace, his natural gifts are perhaps more suited to the space provided against better opposition that attack Rangers on their own terms.

It's no surprise the winger often excels in the big games in Europe and against Celtic where there is space to run into.

Kent also recognises the role of the crowd in creating a charged atmosphere that brings the best out of him.

He said: "Playing on a European stage is a special feeling for footballers especially at Ibrox where the atmosphere that's created is massive. I feel like that it gets the best out of me and my ability playing on the Europa League stage.

"The performances have improved massively on last season. Going into this season the squad has improved all around and there's players in every position who can step-up into every area of the pitch whether you are in the starting eleven or not and do a good job.

"No discredit to players that were here last season but the players this term have more confidence, hunger and the belief we can achieve something.

"The key thing is coming up against teams and not fearing them prior to the game and in the game its just stepping-up onto the pitch and showing who can deliver.

"Playing for Rangers is pressure alone. You are expected to deliver out on the pitch and give the fans what they want. I give myself challenges in every game and expect good performances.

"Especially recently, the performances have been excellent all around the pitch, both defensively and going forward, creating lots of chances and I think teams are realising that now, even in Europe.

"We were a bit cautious going into the game but we excelled in the second half. We came out and gave it to them straight away, put them on the back foot and on the back of that result we have a lot of confidence against them now.

"We have thrived in those circumstances before, if we can start the game right and the fans get behind us we are capable of getting the right result."
