Ryan Kent Rangers absence 'explained' as fans fret over lack of pre-season sightings

Rangers winger Ryan Kent is believed to be suffering from an injury, explaining his absence from pre-season training.

The Ibrox squad returned to work this week as Steven Gerrard looks to prepare his troops for their title defence and a crack at the Champions League.

But fans have been worried by the fact that Kent has not been spotted in a raft of pictures put out by Rangers since the players returned.

That led some to fear that the former Liverpool man was being lined up for an exit but it seems the truth may be more prosaic.

According to the Scottish Sun, Kent is struggling with a niggling injury and has been receiving treatment rather than participating in full training.

The injury is not believed to be serious, with Rangers taking no risks with the fitness of one of their key men.

The Premiership champions get their title defence under way against Livingston at Ibrox on July 31 before launching their assault on the Champions League.

They enter at the third qualifying round, with the first legs of that to be played on August 3 and 4 with the return a week later.
