Ryan Kent injury latest as Rangers star steps up pre-season return ahead of Tranmere clash

Rangers star Ryan Kent could return to action this weekend after he took part in pre-season training after injury.

The winger was a late return to the grass and is believed to have been working on his fitness in the gym after picking up a knock over the summer.

But now he's back on the pitch and will give Steven Gerrard a boost ahead of the new season with him such a vital part of the Ibrox side.

Rangers started their pre-season win over Partick Thistle but Kent wasn't involved at all with Jordan Jones, Glenn Middleton, Ianis Hagi and Kemar Roofe playing in the two number 10 positions over the 90 minutes.

And Kent could play a part against Tranmere on Saturday when Rangers travel north of the border for their second friendly as they step up their preparations for the new campaign.

He shared a video on his Instagram account of him beating James Tavernier down the wing before delivering a cross and it is something that will please fans who were concerned by his absence.

It means Rangers are getting closer to their full squad being available but are still awaiting the arrival of Fashion Sakala.

Covid-19 issues have held up him arriving at the club they hope he will be involved soon while the international players from Euro 2020 are also due to return.
