Ryan Kent injury blow as Rangers star forced off after just 40 minutes

Rangers have been dealt a blow after Ryan Kent was forced off injured in the first half against Livingston.

The Gers winger was making his second debut for the club after sealing his £7million switch from Liverpool on transfer deadline day just a few weeks ago.

He was a long term target for manager Steven Gerrard, who has been an admirer of the former Rangers loanee, having spent last season at Ibrox.

And the Gers manager was adamant the 22-year-old was fit enough to feature against Livi , throwing him in at the first chance possible opportunity after the international break had finished and Premiership football had resumed.

Kent impressed in the early stages, but after 40 minutes he pulled up with what looked like a muscle injury after making a run through the middle.

Kent was pictured clutching his hamstring before walking off the pitch to receive further treatment.

The winger looked devastated after being forced to come off five minutes before half-time, and was replaced by Brandon Barker.

And now Kent will likely face several weeks out with the muscle injury, with several big games coming up, including their Europa League group stage opening game against Feyenoord on Thursday.

It got worse for Rangers early in the second half when Livingston took a shock lead.

Steven Lawless fired home from the spot after Scott Arfield had brought down Lyndon Dykes.
