Ryan Kent given ultimate Rangers compliment as Neil McCann admits Ibrox star is BETTER than he was

Neil McCann insists Ryan Kent is a far better player than he ever was, as he challenged the Rangers winger to hit 15 goals this season.

After making a permanent move to Ibrox last summer, Kent hit seven goals and one assist in his 21 Premiership games.

Given the club had paid out a big fee to make his loan permanent some fans felt the winger should have provided more.

On Wednesday though the former Liverpool youth scored the second goal of the night against St Johnstone, sweeping home from a Borna Barisic cross.

That continued a positive start to the season for Kent, who was compared to another former Rangers left-winger by pundit Alex Rae.

McCann responded on Rangers TV: "Listen, Ryan Kent has more tools in the bag than I had.

"My right foot was for standing on! I scored a couple with it, but he's got real message with both sides.

"And I'll tell you, I'm not a full-back, but a guy coming at you on either side is more difficult.

"And that's why I think Alex (Rae) is absolutely right to ask for 15 goals, and Steven Gerrard will be asking for the same amount."
