Ryan Kent has been told a move to Leeds United is not the answer for the Rangers star.
The Light Blues midfielder is out of contract in the summer and could leave Ibrox on a free after signing from Liverpool in 2019 for £7 million. He is one of a number of star players whose deals expire in the upcoming transfer window with Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Filip Helander and Ryan Jack the other high profile names set to leave the club.
Gers boss Michael Beale revealed last week he is due to sit down with the Englishman to thrash out a deal that could extent his stay in Govan beyond this season. Since signing for Rangers, Kent has been linked with a number of clubs south of the border with Leeds United reportedly keen to sign the winger when Marcelo Bielsa was in charge at Elland Road.
Now, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton told Football Insider the risk that Leeds could be relegated from the English Premier League to the Championship should be a factor in his decision to leave Glasgow.
Hutton was asked if Kent would be interested should Leeds drop down a division, he replied: "I would not if it was me. I can only talk from my point of view and when I left Rangers I would not have wanted to leave playing in the Champions League or European competitions to go to a team in the Championship.
"I have got a feeling that he wants to stay. I think he can do good things at Rangers. Your head would only turn if it was a good option for you and I do not see the Championship as being that."
