Ryan Kent breaks Rangers transfer exit silence as new Fenerbahce star issues 'Simply the Best' sign off

Ryan Kent has opened up on his drawn out Rangers exit in emotional farewell message to the club and fans.

The former Liverpool youngster rejected the offer of a new deal at Ibrox and instead chose to leave on a free for Turkish giants Fenerbahce. He brought a four year spell in Glasgow to an end after initially signing on loan from the Merseyside outfit under Anfield legend Steven Gerrard. he then paid £7million to make Kent a fully fledged Ger the following summer.

The expectation was that Kent would eventually see the Light Blues bank a healthy return on their investment when selling him on. But despite long term links with Leeds United, a move never materialised and fans were left frustrated when the winger sat out the remainder of his deal and exited for nothing alongside Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos, which resulted in criticism of previous sporting director Ross Wilson.

But now Kent has reflected on his time with Rangers in a lengthy social media post. In it, he thanks the club, staff and fans while insisting he'll always carry the club "in his heart."

It read: "Thank you to all the Rangers fans.

"My time at Ibrox is something I will remember for the rest of my life. As a Liverpool academy player I followed Steven and Mick on loan - but that soon became 5 years as I immediately fell in love with the club and fans and have made some memories that I will look back on with great happiness.

"As a kid it is a dream to play in European competitions, win leagues and cups, but to do that in front of the Ibrox crowds is something else entirely, it’s a privilege."

"And to all my teammates, management team and backroom staff past and present, thank you for everything and I’ll miss you all. Now it is time for me to begin an exciting new chapter in my career and continue my footballing journey as a player elsewhere - but I will forever carry Rangers in my heart.

"I look forward to cheering you on to success in the league next season. Simply The Best".
