Ryan Kent blow for Rangers as Jurgen Klopp rules out loan move for Liverpool winger

Rangers have been dealt a blow in their bid to get Ryan Kent back to Ibrox.

The winger has been a target since the moment he left Glasgow in May and he's impressed during pre-season.

He missed Liverpool's friendly defeat to Napoli due to illness but his absence prompted fans to get their hopes up on a return.

Rangers want to take him back on loan with an asking price of more than £10million set by Liverpool.

But Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled out any more temporary moves and insists he'll only go if it's a permanent deal.

Klopp said: "The time is over, I think, for loans, because of his age.

"The players need to find a place where they can settle. A loan is not an option."

Kent is also wanted by Leeds and Aston Villa and both clubs have the means to pay the asking price.

It's understood that the 22-year-old would prefer a move back to Glasgow but it now looks increasingly unlikely that will happen.

Steven Gerrard insisted last week that he will wait until the very last minute of the window to get Kent if that's what he has to do.

But the Ibrox boss will now need to look elsewhere if he wants another winger in the door.

The decision is a huge blow to Rangers, with Kent becoming a key player during his year at the club.
