Ryan Jack suffers Rangers injury setback as Steven Gerrard says 'ball is in his court' in response to Glen Kamara poser

Steven Gerrard admits he's been told to "slow it down" with Ryan Jack 's recovery, as the midfielder battles back from knee surgery.

The Rangers stalwart missed the conclusion of last season with the issue, as well as Scotland's Euro 2020 campaign.

Jack is yet to feature this season, and his manager confirmed his recovery is having to be taken more slowly than initially hoped.

Gerrard explained: "Ryan Jack, we've been told to just slow down a little bit on Ryan.

"So he'll probably be another couple of weeks, all being well."

Glen Kamara is believed to be close to signing a new contract at Ibrox, and his manager says it's down to the player when that will be confirmed.

Gerrard said: "He's been extremely important. I think his progress since we took him in from Dundee has been clear for everyone to see.

"He's gone on to become a real established international player and we know he can handle any football game here.

"I love the kid, I love the player, and I've made it abundantly clear how much I want him to stay from a personal point of view.

"There's a real strong, good offer on the table for Glen.

"So the speed at which this happens is totally on Glen. The ball is firmly in his court, the offer is really good from the club.

"His advisors are happy with the offer so now it's totally down to Glen, so the question you've just asked me should really go in Glen's direction.

"We're ready waiting and hoping it's done as soon as possible."
