Ryan Jack suffers Rangers injury blow as midfielder faces spell on the sidelines

Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack faces a spell on the sidelines after he limped off during Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Hearts.

The Scotland international was replaced at the break by Scott Arfield and is set to miss two weeks after suffering a calf injury.

And that means he could be absent for a crucial run of fixtures including clashes with Hibs, Kilmarnock and former club Aberdeen.

Jack has emerged as a key man under boss Steven Gerrard with his all-action displays helping Rangers push on both domestically and in the Europa League.

But assistant boss Gary McAllister has revealed Jack is poised to be on the sidelines as Rangers look to respond after their Tynecastle shocker.

The Liverpool legend, speaking ahead of Wednesday's clash with Ross County, said: "Ryan has had a little reoccurrence of an injury in his calf, we are talking 10 days to  two weeks."

And McAllister is hoping skipper James Tavernier will be back sooner rather than later after missing the last three fixtures following an appendix issue.

"James (Tavernier) is a couple weeks away, he is back on the grass now and is a fit guy so we hope to potentially have him back sooner."
