Ryan Jack row rumbles on as SFA refuse to comment on Rangers complaints

The row over Ryan Jack’s Scotland injury rumbled on after the SFA went to ground over the player’s treatment.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard accused Steve Clarke of being “careless” with the midfielder when he returned early from the Euro 2020 double-header after aggravating a knee injury.

Hampden bosses refused to comment on the manager’s belief that Jack was overworked in training too soon after the Old Firm clash.

Even Celtic boss Neil Lennon admitted he wouldn’t have fancied a double training session two days after the derby.

Gerrard is fuming that he was asked to run 11k over two sessions just 48 hours after playing the full 90 minutes of the 2-0 defeat to Celtic.

Lennon said: “I wouldn’t have liked to have done it as a player, put it that way.

“As a player, a double session two days later? No. That is a lot. I have certain sympathy.”

However, the Parkhead boss made it clear he has no axe to grind with Clarke with his Hoops stars such as James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie reporting back without complaint.

Lennon added: “Again, you don’t know the intensity of what was put out there. Our boys came back fine.

“I don’t know how much my players ran, I’ll have to ask them. It’s unfortunate in that aspect, I suppose, but Steve has a job to do as well, he’s got two weeks to try and get his methods across.

“There’s been no complaints from our boys in terms of the training times or the intensity.”

Jack is one of a trio missing for Rangers against Livingston at Ibrox.

Jordan Jones is set to be out for at least a month and Jon Flanagan will be absent for key games after a hernia operation.
