Ryan Jack Rangers wonder goal given disallowed verdict by Kilmarnock boss Tommy Wright

Tommy Wright insists Ryan Jack's winning goal shouldn't have stood as Rangers dispatched Kilmarnock.

The Ibrox men secured the victory against the Rugby Park side thanks to a stunning volley from the Gers midfielder.

But new Killie manager Wright believes there was a handball in the build-up and there should have been a free-kick awarded, before Jack could take aim and put Steven Gerrard's side ahead.

The Nothern Irishman criticised referee Don Robertson for not spotting the incident but admitted there was nothing his players could do about the wonder goal from the Rangers star.

He said: "In the first half and parts of the second, we got into good areas.

“But a lack of commitment and belief in the final third meant we didn't work the Rangers goalkeeper.

“I don't think we had a shot on target today so that's something that has to improve.

“I was disappointed with their goal on two fronts. Firstly, we should have cleared our lines better from their free-kick.

“And secondly, it was a handball. After a header in the box it hits a Rangers player's hand.

“The official should see that. It was a great finish from Jack, we can't do anything about that.

“Whilst there are positives in terms of the effort, work rate and shape which was good – ultimately there's huge disappointment that we didn't do enough in the final third.

“Box to box we've been pretty good. I can't fault the attitude of the players.

“But with the run we're on, there seems to be a real lack of belief in that final third. We didn't have many opportunities today but the ones we did have, we should have done more with.”
