Ryan Jack Rangers injury latest as midfielder ruled out for a 'couple of weeks'

Rangers will be without midfielder Ryan Jack for the next couple of weeks after he suffered an injury against Dundee United.

But it's good news for Steven Gerrard after the Ibrox boss confirmed there was no muscle damage and will have no long term effects on his season.

The Scotland international limped out of the game in the first half to add to the injury woes already being suffered by Gerrard, with James Tavernier and Kemar Roofe already injured.

Both of them are expected back in the next couple of weeks and Rangers will also not have Jack available for Thursday's clash with Royal Antwerp.

The second leg is at Ibrox on Thursday night and Gerrard admits it's 'positive' about Jack, having been visibly frustrated about him playing on after feeling the knock on Sunday.

He said: "Nothing has changed on Kemar Roofe and James Tavernier, we will work closely with our medical team to get them back as soon as possible.

"Ryan Jack is more positive, not any muscle damage but he is likely to be a couple of weeks but nothing long-term."

Rangers hold a single goal lead after the incredible 4-3 win over Antwerp last week and Gerrard insists they'll play the game from a clean slate.

He added: “We see it as a fresh game and we want to improve on our performance from a defensive point of view.

“We won't sit and protect, we will be aggressive and go for the win as this is our home and we want to show how difficult it is to come to Ibrox.

“In the opening stages we will see if they have a press or are prepared to sit in - we have to adapt on the job and be ready for what happens on the night.

“For me, the focus has to be on us and the problems we can cause at home to make our supporters proud.”
