Ryan Jack Rangers future as Ibrox hero hands midfielder 'big part' verdict under Michael Beale

Ryan Jack still has a big part to play at Rangers under Michael Beale.

That's the verdict of Ibrox hero Barry Ferguson who has hailed his past month in a Light Blues shirt as 'excellent'. A lot of the talk has been about the impressive starts to life at Ibrox for January recruits Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin but the radio pundit believes their midfield partner has been a main reason behind that form for the duo.

Jack is one of a number of Rangers stars who are in the final months of contracts at the club with decisions yet to be made either way. Boss Beale has publicly stated his desire to retain the Scotland international and team-mate Ryan Jack while Alfredo Morelos is another who is yet to learn his fate - although his gaffer has called for more from the Colombian hitman on a day to day basis after he quashed talk over a Sevilla pre-contract with Galatasaray also linked with a swoop.

Ferguson has named the only issue surrounding Jack as he made reference to remaining fit week in, week out but says he is a big player if he remains injury free.

Speaking on Go Radio, he said: "I think he's been excellent over the last three or four weeks for Rangers.

"A lot of people have been talking about [Nicolas] Raskin and [Todd] Cantwell, and rightly so because they have impressed but Ryan Jack's been a big part of that.

"He's the one that keeps it solid in the middle of the pitch and lets the footballers go and do their stuff.

"The only issue with Ryan Jack is making sure he continues to be fit week in and week out, and if Jack is free of injury, I still think he's got a big part to play at Rangers."
