Ryan Jack pens two-year Rangers contract extension as Steven Gerrard salutes 'real leader'

In-form Ryan Jack has extended his Rangers stay until 2023 after penning a two-year Ibrox contract extension.

The former Aberdeen midfielder has become a key member of the current team and is boss Steven Gerrard 's trusted lieutenant on the field.

Jack's head-turning displays for his club have earned him a fresh deal that keeps him locked in for the next four years with the Premiership side.

The Rangers boss made clear last week a deal was in the offing and the club confirmed an agreement had been struck on Tuesday.

And Gerrard paid his midfield enforcer the ultimate compliment after penning his new long-term deal.

He told Rangers TV: “We’re delighted that Ryan has extended his contract with the club. He is a very easy to manage and is a real leader and winner on the pitch.

Ryan sets very high standards for himself and for others around him and that is exactly the kind of player and mentality that we want in throughout our squad.

“We believe that there is a lot more to come from him before he reaches his potential and we look forward to working with him for the next few years."

Jack has won over the Ibrox faithful after a difficult start to his Rangers career, and is hoping to cement that status in the coming seasons.

He said:"I’m delighted to commit my future to Rangers, and the club have shown great ambition to get me re-signed on a new deal.

"I’m over the moon and I’m looking forward to the future now. With the length of contract the club has given me, I hope to repay that in the next three-and-a-half years."
