Ryan Jack injury latest as Rangers midfielder sent home from Scotland duty

Ryan Jack has been sent home from international duty to undergo treatment on a knee injury.

The Rangers midfielder will not be involved against Belgium in Euro 2020 qualifying on Monday night.

Jack played no part in the 2-1 defeat to Russia on Friday due to swelling around his knee and the issue hasn't subsised in time for the visit of the Group I leaders.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke confirmed no gamble would be taken on the Ibrox star and he has now returned to his club.

He said: “Ryan has gone back to Rangers.

“He had a little bit of swelling on his knee on Friday and was prepared to sit on the bench.

“But on Saturday there was more swelling and Rangers decided to go safety first."

Hearts striker Steven Naismith has also left the Scotland camp, with Clarke deciding not to take a chance on him.

He added: ""Naismith was close. I could’ve pushed him, but I wouldn’t do it. I don’t think it’s worth the risk.”
