Ryan Jack in Rangers injury wait as Ibrox star sees specialist over calf problems

Rangers have sent Ryan Jack to a specialist in bid to end his calf injury issues for good.

The midfielder has missed large chunks of this season with a problem in that area and hasn't played since limping out of the 4-1 win over Dundee United in February.

It's a major blow for the Ibrox midfielder as he looks to get himself fit and ready for the run in as well as the European Championships with Scotland this summer.

But he faces a wait to discover the result of his tests in London with Gary McAlliser revealing he was sent to the capital in a bid to sort it out.

There's better news for Rangers fans on James Tavernier though, with the skipper back training on his own and nearing a return to action.

Sunday's game will come too soon for him but he will hope to return soon after suffering a knee injury in the game with Antwerp.

It means Leon Balogun is likely to fill in at right back again on Sunday with Nathan Patterson suspended following his Covid-19 breach.

McAllister said: "It’s positive on James Tavernier as he is back on the grass and that was nice to see. He's out there on his own with the physios but that's a big positive. He's getting closer and closer.

"Ryan Jack has been in London seeing a specialist so we are awaiting results not hat one to try and get to the bottom of his issue.

"Niko Katic is back on the grass in Croatia which is great to see."
