Ryan Jack in Rangers fitness fight for Celtic clash as Steven Gerrard admits injury uncertainty

Injured Ryan Jack faces a race against time to be fit for Rangers' upcoming derby clash with Celtic.

Steven Gerrard has revealed the midfielder will be on the sidelines for "a few weeks" minimum.

Jack was substituted with a calf issue during Saturday's Premiership win over Dundee United at Ibrox.

Brandon Barker also picked up a hamstring issue in the 4-0 victory but Gerrard described his absence as "short-term".

"Jacko will be missing for a few weeks at least," the Rangers boss admitted.

"I think with him we have to take it day by day but we've had confirmation that he has a calf problem.

"So he'll certainly be missing in the short term. It's difficult to say whether it will be two, three or four weeks at the moment. But he'll certainly miss a couple of weeks.

"Brandon Barker is similar in terms of his scan. It's obviously a different muscle, in the hamstring.

He'll be missing in the short-term as well."

Gerrard revealed on Wednesday that Alfredo Morelos has made the trip to Gibraltar for tonight's Europa League second round qualifying clash with Lincoln Red Imps.

But he now insists no call has been made on whether the striker will be involved.

Gerrard added: "We'll make that decision when we need to.

"But in terms of his fitness, he is available. He's trained fully with the group having trained with the physio yesterday.

"I've just spoken with him and he's fine and available."
